Meet the Team

Meet Our Team

Saturday Stage Schools take pride in a very highly qualified and experienced team. They are all DBS cleared, friendly, approachable, accommodating and versatile, and have worked together for many years. The staff are all qualified within the arts and have years of teaching and performance experience as well as excelling in choreography, direction, composition and writing. Several of the staff have worked professionally within the Arts and have a wealth of experience to offer and share with the students. Many of them are known in the local area for their work and are a credit to Saturday Stage Schools.

Jeff became a professional actor at the age of 16 and went on to work in theatre companies all over the UK. He has acted in or produced over 1000 plays, musicals and pantomimes. Over the years he has worked with many youth groups and schools, and this led to the formation of Saturday Stage School in 1998.

Ema has had a passion for performance from a young age, and undertaken many roles within amateur societies as well as performing professionally. She graduated from Northumbria University with a BA Honours Degree in Dance and currently works as a freelance teacher and choreographer specialising in young children’s creative dance. Also qualified in childcare and development Ema undertakes several different roles working with children including running the playgroup ‘Mini Boppers’ She has been a part of the Saturday Stage School team since it opened in 1998.  She particularly loves the hard working, fun atmosphere and relishes the opportunities to be creative, choreograph and direct with such great people.

 

Rachel has been a part of the SSS team for 14 years. She has enjoyed seeing the children blossom and loves working with a talented bunch of performers old and new! Rachel also really enjoys the craic with the team.

Andrew graduated from Huddersfield University with an honours degree in music before working in secondary education as Head of a Music department for twelve years. He currently works as a freelance vocal coach, workshop leader, academic tutor, musical director, composer and arranger, enjoying a wide variety of musical pursuits.

As a musical director he has worked with many societies and production companies and has coached singers of all ages and levels of experience, both amateur and professional. Past credits include: Return to the Forbidden Planet, Guys and Dolls, Copacabana, Little Shop of Horrors, A Chorus Line, Titanic, Rent, Jekyll & Hyde, Beauty & the Beast and Jesus Christ Superstar to name but few.

He loves working at Saturday Stage School and looks forward to each week for lots of hard work but even more fun.

Holly-Rose studied a short course in Musical Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting before completing her degree in performing arts at the University of Sunderland. Holly-Rose’s theater credits include: Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls at Frome Memorial Theatre) Christi (original cast of Mathew Grahams Makeshift Musical) and Helena (A Midsummer Nights Dream at the Athenaeum Theatre) Holly is Currently Artistic Director of the Atlas Theatre Company. Holly-Rose loves being part of all the fun at Saturday Stage School and every week looks forward to the amazing talent and energy that all its students bring!

Kathy has been involved in Saturday Stage School since its inception. As a retired school teacher she has great experience of working with children. Kathy has performed with many local, amateur societies over the years and continues to do so with Tynemouth Gilbert and Sullivan Society. As wardrobe mistress for the school she is frequently seen brandishing a tape measure and wielding a needle and thread.
