Seniors

Our Senior School is for children aged 8 to 17 years old.

Within our Senior School our students are taught by our team of fully qualified, industry professionals in a safe, positive and friendly environment. Our students develop skills in singing, dancing and acting as well as being given the opportunity to be creative, explore ideas and develop their wonderful imaginative pathways all whilst having lots of fun.

The students develop their skills while working on individual tasks, through peer group work and by exploring a range of exercises which promote confidence, co-ordination, rhythm, spatial awareness and social skills.

When children first join us we offer a 3 week trial for £67.50 which gives you the opportunity to make sure children settle into classes before you commit to paying for a full half term.

Where and when do Senior classes take place?

All of Saturday Stage Schools classes take place at Whitley Bay Young People's Centre which is located just behind Whitley Bay Ice Rink. Our Senior sessions take place every Saturday from 2pm - 5pm.

Do I need to stay with  my child during their class?

You are welcome to wait in our reception area during your child's class. Refreshments are available during this time including tea, coffee and snacks. However, you don't have to wait, you're welcome to leave and come back in time for the end of class.

Will my child take part in any performances?

Yes, absolutely! All of our students will take part in two performances a year. At Christmas we do a Showcase at The Priory Theatre in Tynemouth and every summer our main show takes place at The Playhouse, Whitley Bay.
The aim of the Christmas Showcase is for the children to perform pieces that will demonstrate their learning throughout the term. The Showcase also gives them the opportunity to develop performance skills in preparation for our big summer production. Our production in the summer is no expense spared and provides the children with the best theatrical experience we can offer.

What does my child need to wear for their class?

For the 3 week trial we advise children to wear clothing and footwear that is comfortable and appropriate to dance in. After their trial we ask all students to wear SSS uniform which is an SSS t-shirt, plain black leggings or joggers and black jazz shoes. We sell all compulsory uniform as well as optional items including hoodies, leggings and joggers.

Does my child need to bring anything to their class?

We ask all students to bring a drink and snack with them to have during their break. During their break we open the tuck shop so you're welcome to send your child with some money to spend on treats. All money raised from the tuck shop goes towards fundraising for our summer show.
